What is an SRM?

In a gas pressure regulating and metering station, natural gas passes from the high-pressure transmission network into the distribution network or to the consumer. The station provides filtration, pressure regulation and metering of the gas and is an assembly of equipment, valves, fittings and accessories housed in its own enclosure. CORSEM stations are smart and SCADA-compatible, for remote monitoring and control.

What a gas pressure regulating and metering station includes

Each station is sized to the project flow rate and pressures, together with the client and the network operator. As the manufacturer, CORSEM assembles and tests the station, then transports, installs and commissions it on site.

Filtration
Removal of solid and liquid impurities from the gas before pressure regulation
Regulation
Pressure reduction and control, on one active and one standby line
Metering
Metering of the gas delivered, to the network operator's requirements
Safety
Isolation valves, safety relief valves and slam-shut valves
Odorisation
At custody transfer stations, where the project requires it

From design to commissioning

How we build a gas pressure regulating and metering station

  1. Parameters and approvals

Inlet and outlet pressures, flow rate, regulating lines and the network operator's requirements.

  2. Design

The station and its connection installation, by ANRE-authorised staff (type PT for high pressure).

  3. Manufacturing and testing

Assembly of filters, regulators, metering equipment, valves and fittings; pressure tests.

  4. Installation and commissioning

Transport, installation, commissioning and handover of the technical documentation.

Frequently asked questions about SRM stations

What is the difference between SRM, SRMP and PRM?

SRM — gas pressure regulating and metering station; SRMP — custody transfer regulating and metering station, at the point where gas is handed over between operators; PRM — regulating and metering post, for lower flow rates. The abbreviations SRM, SR, SM and PRM are defined in NTPEE-2018 (the Romanian technical norms for natural gas supply systems).

What operating pressures can a station have?

NTPEE-2018 defines the pressure ranges: low (≤ 0.05 bar), reduced (0.05–2 bar), medium (2–6 bar) and high (above 6 bar). The station reduces the pressure from the inlet range to the one required downstream.

Do you also handle installation and commissioning?

Yes — CORSEM covers the whole chain: feasibility study, design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and servicing.

Which ANRE authorisations does CORSEM hold?

According to the ANRE public register: PT no. 23206 and ET no. 16724 (high pressure), PDSB no. 21491 and EDSB no. 22802 (distribution systems), PDIB no. 22801 and EDIB no. 22803 (consumer gas installations) and EPI no. 24380. Details on the Authorisations page.
