Thermal equipment works for long periods of time, providing all the necessary hot water and heat for your family to enjoy full comfort. The operating time is, on average, about 1400 hours each year, and this leads to the gradual wear and tear of the parts of the heating plant, wear that can cause breakdowns. All of these have the side effect of increasing the gas combustion temperature, consumption and, with them, increasing the total cost of heating, and over time can lead to damage to the entire heating system. For this reason it is very important to consider, annually, the revision of your heating equipment.
Specialists recommend an annual technical overhaul, preferably at the beginning of autumn, before it gets cold, to prepare the heating system for the cold seasons. This differs from the periodic technical inspection (VTP) that every thermal plant owner is obliged by law to do once every two years. The main purpose of the VTP is to protect the consumer by verifying the safe operation of the gas appliance, while the annual inspection of the plant tests the operation of the equipment in optimal parameters to ensure a good yield during the winter and, last but not least, for extending the life of the equipment. Both operations are done for a fee, they can be done simultaneously by the same specialist (for VTP it is necessary that the service center is authorized by ISCIR, however), but they require different checks.
Annual review of the thermal plant
This review consists of an evaluation of the thermal equipment and all its component parts. Here’s everything a specialist needs to check when they enter your home to evaluate the boiler:
- Control and safety devices (gas valve, flow meter, thermostats, etc.)
- Efficiency of the flue gas exhaust circuit.
- The condition of the watertight chamber and whether it is hermetically sealed.
- The pipelines and the air-gas terminal must not be blocked and have no leaks.
- The electrode must be free of deposits and must be correctly positioned.
- Gas and water installations must be tight.
